A fifty (50) member taskforce to decongest the Central Business Area of the Municipality, especially of the activities of the commercial drivers who load passengers outside the designated loading points, was inaugurated by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon Ansu Kumi, in the Assembly Hall on Tuesday 7th February, 2013.
The Municipal Chief Executive in his inaugural address tasked the taskforce to ensure the decongestion of the Central Business Area (CBA). He assured the Taskforce that their activities were backed by law to prevent drivers from parking and picking passengers at unauthorized places. The taskforce was made up of selected officers of the Municipal Assembly, members from all the transport unions and representatives from all the security agencies. He said the decongestion exercise is to bring sanity to CBA of the Sunyani Township.
The taskforce would start operation on Sunday, February 12th 2023. They are to operate from 6am to 7:30pm each day.
The municipal Chief Executive cautioned members of the taskforce against corruption and other negative influence and also tasked them to be diligent in the discharge in the discharged of their duty.
