The Ministry of National Security has organized an orientation program for staff of the Sunyani Municipal Assembly on the "See Something, Say Something" campaign.

The program aimed to sensitize staff on the importance of vigilance and timely reporting of suspicious activities to prevent potential security threats.

Madam Akosua D. Ntim Sekyere, a member of the campaign team emphasized the crucial role of citizens in maintaining national security. She explained that, acts of terrorism in neighbouring countries such as Burkina Faso and Niger has prompted the need for citizens to be schooled on the need to be vigilant and observant of their surroundings and to identify suspicious activities for timely reporting. She mentioned 999 as the toll free line for reporting any suspicious activities.

She sensitized the staff on identifying suspicious behaviors, reporting mechanisms, and confidentiality. She stressed on the need for people to be vigilant in their surroundings to spot suspicious activities. "Vigilance is key to preventing security breaches. We rely on your alertness to identify security threats. “She said.

Major Osei Agyemang Rtd, Bono Regional Security Coordinator, added that, there have been crimes which could have been prevented if people had been vigilant and encouraged staff to be alert and help the security for enhanced national security.

Hon. Ansu Kumi, the Municipal Chief Executive of Sunyani, commended the Ministry's initiative, stressing the Assembly's commitment to safety. "We will continue to collaborate with national security agencies to ensure our municipality remains safe” he reiterated.

At the interactive session, questions and concerns of staff were addressed and they were encouraged to practice what has been taught. Staff expressed appreciation for the orientation, pledging to be more vigilant and proactive in reporting suspicious activities.
