Pursuant to the mandate of the Local Government Service Secretariat to improve delivery of service through the appointment, development and promotion of adequate numbers of competent staff in their right mix to fill vacancies at the national, regional and district levels. With the arrival of these new staff there has been the need to equip them with the needed protocols of the Service to position them carry themselves professionally in tandem with the lay down conventions of the Service. Specifically, Conditions of Service of the Local Government Service requires that all New Recruits are taken through an Orientation session to equip them appropriately with the set of protocols needed to perform in consonance with the Service Delivery Standards of the Service.

The objective was to equip newly recruited staff with the Local Government Service protocols specifically; Scheme of Service, Condition of Service, Code of Conduct, Service Delivery Standards, Performance Management System, Staffing Norms, HR Policy and Organizational Management

The total number of New Entrants drawn from the RCC, Sunyani Municipal and Sunyani West municipalities stood at Two Hundred and Fourteen (214) across several classes in the Service.

The training took place at the University of Ghana Learning center located behind the Sunyani main Prisons. It was a two-day orientation programme which started on 311stAugust, 2023 and ended on 1st September, 2023

The workshop ended successfully with words of encouragement from the Municipal Co-ordinating Director to staff on improving performance and meeting the standards of the Local Government Service.

He also took the opportunity admonish staff to take such training seriously and ensure that they put to practice what have been discussed throughout the exercise.
