The humble and purposeful Municipal Chief Executive of the Sunyani Municipality, Hon Ansu Kumi undertook series of activities from January 17th, 2020 to January 22nd 2022 as part of his duties as the Chief executive.
He started the week with a visit to interact with several school kids in some schools within the municipality since it was their first day they were enrolled.
His visit afforded him the opportunity to put in, words of encouragement and how he made it by the grace of God to where his is now, all thanks to education.
He also seized the moment to distribute a total of 1380 pieces of assorted drinks and 1, 440 pieces of biscuits to the school children.
Some of the schools he visited were, Abesim R/C basic school, Yawhima SDA primary, Barhamiya Basic A, Nanketewa Basic etc.
The adulate MCE also in the course of the week under consideration, joined the Regional Education Directorate to launch and distribute some 4552 laptops to Junior High School teachers in the region where Sunyani Municipal benefited as per the number of Teachers validated some 608 laptops.
In his brief speech, AND on behalf of his colleague Municipal and District Chief Executives in the region, at the ceremony organized at the Assembly hall of the Sunyani Secondary School (SUSEC) by the Regional Education Directorate, under the auspices of the *enviable Regional Director of Education, Mrs Ivy Asantewa Owusu, the MCE underscored the need to utilize the laptops for the intended purpose for which they were brought in by government upon the request of their Unions.
The assiduous MCE maintained “ being a teacher is blessing and I am proud to always stand shoulder to shoulder with you because I am from you and will always be with you”.
He stressed, “to augment teaching, government together with your unions are investing in you through the provision of these laptops to aide you in exploring for innovation through technology”.
We have had to make compromises, adjustments in the past in many cases because of inadequate laptops, but thankfully, with these laptops where every teacher is entitled to one, we can surf the internet and prepare our lessons, make references amongst many with these laptops so that we can prepare and equip the students very well for the global market, he remarked”.
The occasion was also graced by the Bono Regional Minister, Hon Justina Owusu Banahene who also encouraged the teachers to use the laptops judiciously to the benefit of all.
