The punctilious Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive paid a working visit to the Military command 3BN where he familiarized himself with the activities of the command and inspected an ongoing project under construction by the ministry of defense and a rehabilitation of a junior staff quarters by the 3BN.
A similar visit was taken to the Sunyani Municipal Fire service Command and the Ghana Ambulance service.
TAccording to the Municipal fire command, the MCE’s visit is the first of its kind
Whilst commending the Assembly for its continuous support to the command, he used the opportunity to again call on the Assembly to help conscientise the municipality on the need to have proper layouts so that, the service fire tender can have easy route to fighting fire outbreaks especially where the road is encroached and congested with an unauthorized structures
Giving statistics as follows, the service recorded 102 fire outbreaks in 2020 with 16 rescues, 2021 recorded 66 outbreaks with 21 rescues and in January 2022 alone 32 outbreaks were recorded with 2 rescues indicating that, there’s has been a rise from 2021 which is very disturbing.
He attributed the causes of the 2022 mainly to urban fires where landlords and tenants set fires and fail to control them, setting fire in the farms uncontrolled too, he mentioned contributed to some of the outbreaks including faulty electrical appliances and wiring
The MCE assured the command of his undivided attention to helping in the fire against fire outbreaks by supporting them in any capacity the Assembly could.
The next stop by the MCE was at the Ghana Ambulance Service command where he interacted with the workers and gathered information on the current activities and workforce.
He was informed, a lot of attention has been given to the ambulance service by this government and that, as at now the Bono region alone has 38 new drivers and 40 new trainees
It is instructive to note that, the new ambulances delivered to them by government is in good shape and a lot of lives have been saved since the ambulance was brought in with its corresponding workforce.
